Research Symposium & Annual Meeting
The New Mexico Research Symposium, collaboratively hosted with the New Mexico Established Program to Stimulate Competitive Research (NM EPSCoR), is an annual conference geared to undergraduate and graduate students from New Mexico’s colleges and universities. Presentation and poster abstracts are published in the New Mexico Journal of Science.
New Mexico Junior Academy of Science
The New Mexico Junior Academy of Science (NMJAS) promotes student research with an annual written and and oral technical paper competition. The competitions are held in conjunction with the Regional and State Science and Engineering Fairs, but do not require Science Fair participation.
National Youth Science Camp
The New Mexico Academy of Science is proud to sponsor two New Mexico high school seniors interested in science to attend an all-expenses-paid, month-long stay at the prestigious National Youth Science Camp (NYSC) during the summer. The NYSC pays all expenses for the students including airfare.
Outstanding Science Teacher Awards
Each year, the New Mexico Academy of Science solicits nominations across the state for K-12 teachers and informal educators who have gone above and beyond the call in teaching science to their students. The winners are announced at the NMAS Annual Meeting, which is usually held in early November.
Outstanding Scientist Awards
Since 1962, the Academy has intermittently presented awards to distinguished New Mexicans for their outstanding contributions to science and science education.
