The Outstanding Science Teacher Award given by the New Mexico Academy of Science honors New Mexico science and math educators. The Academy recognizes educators who provide opportunities for students to succeed in science. The award has been given since 1968 and nominations are open to all preK-12 teachers and all Informal Science educators throughout New Mexico. Our two amazing 2022 awardees are Hope Cahill and Colleen Fordyce.
The Coalition for Excellence in Science and Math Education invites you to their 2022 Annual Meeting, Saturday June 4. The featured speaker is Secretary of Education, Dr. Kurt Steinhaus.
Dr. Jeff Gilkey is a retired NG&C Staff member and he is doing a trike flying show at the Museum of Natural History Planetarium on May 26. Jeff has great videos of his adventures. It is an immersive flying experience projected on the planetarium dome. An announcement of the event will apparat in this Sunday’s ABQ Journal. There only 300 tickets available.

New Mexico Junior Academy of Science first pace winner, senior divisition, 2022.
Students from around the state participated in the New Mexico Junior Academy of Science Paper Competition during March and April of 2022. Students from 6 NM regions qualified to participate in the state competition held at New Mexico Tech on April 2, 2022. The winners are announced here.
