Planetarium Show May 26
Dr. Jeff Gilkey is a retired NG&C Staff member and he is doing a trike flying show at the Museum of Natural History Planetarium on May 26. Jeff has great videos of his adventures. It is an immersive flying experience projected on the planetarium dome. An announcement of the event will apparat in this Sunday’s ABQ Journal. There only 300 tickets available.
Biography: Jeff Gilkey has been exploring the New Mexico backcountry in his ultralight trike, sharing his flying adventures through video and photos. A few years ago, Jeff mounted a GoPro Fusion 360 camera on the wingtip of his trike. After seeing his first videos of the remote landscapes of New Mexico, he knew there was only one place that could adequately display these extremely immersive videos – the 55-foot planetarium dome at the New Mexico Museum of Natural History. With the collaboration of the planetarium staff, Jeff has created the ultimate aerial tour, revealing the wild and obscure scenic wonders of New Mexico and the Southwest: Ship Rock, Grand Canyon, secret ruins of the Rio Puerco Valley, and much more. You won’t want to miss this extraordinary experience.
Jeff Gilkey flew hang gliders for 10 years in the ’80s and ’90s and has been flying trikes since 2004. He has logged over 2100 hours in his Aerotrike Cobra on cross country adventures into nearly every corner of New Mexico with many extending into Colorado, Arizona, Utah and Texas.
